The Harlequin Duck is a small, bizarrely-colored duck that lives in the ocean in winter time. As Spring approaches, these wonderful birds move inland to fast flowing rivers and streams, where they nest.

As soon as the female starts to incubate her eggs, the male returns to the ocean to spend the summer. The females and her young rejoin the male in late August.

In captivity the harlequin is without a doubt the most popular of all ducks. They are relatively easy to maintain long term with very clean water and a proper diet. They are not easy to breed.

We feed them Mazuri sea duck diet and freeze-dried krill.
They will do well in most climates.
