Bucephala islandica

The Barrow’s Goldeneye  received its name from Sir John Barrow who was a naval administrator and traveler.  They live in coastal regions and some inland rivers in winter months and return to higher elevation lakes and rivers to breed in Spring time.

They are fairly simple to keep in captivity. We feed them Mazuri sea duck diet and some krill.

One note is that they are aggressive in spring time.
They do okay in warm climates but might need some shade and cool water.
